The classroom is a place where students spend a good part of their lives and it has a very important role in their learning activity. The structure and design of a classroom depends to a great extent on natural factors (how bright the room is, what temperature is recorded daily and what is the air quality), but also on technical ones (the construction material used, the shape of the room, the height of the walls , the volume of the room). Depending on these factors, the personal factor also comes into play (the degree of freedom students have to personalize the class and the degree of flexibility in classroom organization).

Here’s why we (CNSH Tecuci, Romania) proposed this unique contest: My class is the (eco)best!
The main purpose of this mini-project is to raise awareness of the rational use of classroom resources, the need to create a positive, sustainable energy in the learning environment. It is also desired:
– the development of creative thinking and competitive spirit
-promoting a constructive attitude towards arranging the classroom/workspace
250 students (9-13 years old) from 4 schools participated in the competition; the results were amazing: ecological light bulbs, sensor switches, flower pots, window cushions, selective waste collection bins, promotional posters etc.
As in any competition, there were also winners:
1st Prize (96 points): Class V B from Iorgu Iordan Secondary School Tecuci

2nd prize (95 points): 6th Class from Spiru Haret National College Tecuci

3rd prize (92 points): 4th Class from St. Stelian Secondary School Umbrărești Deal

Class IV from Primary School no. 1 Furcenii Vechi (90 points)
