This Guide of Good Practices explain the general concept of green building practices and such practices who can be implemented in schools, with concrete examples of existing practices already implemented in European schools and tips and templates for all schools wanting to become green buildings;
This Guide contain the following elements:
• What is a Green Building and why it is important to respond environmental issues, what are its positive impacts on the planet;
• How to turn a building into a green building, with examples of existing green building practices already in place;
• A step-by-step guideline to set up green building practices;
• A template Environmental Action Plan;
• Templates to be used to assess progress and results.
• References;
• Annexes;
This Guide is the result of desk research and the work of all partners within the Erasmus+ project Green Management In school For Sustainability – GIFs. The guide was created in several stages:
• Research phase: October 2022 – February 2023
• Guide’s development: March 2023 – April 2023
• Guide’s review and improvement: May 2023 – June 2023
• The final Guide improved based on the experts’ evaluation.
The final guide is in English version and in all the partner country languages: June 2023 – July 2023 Research activity was made by the organisations’ staff, which allowed them to know more about the topic.
Through research and reding of information, analysis of the fund information, the participating organisations’ staff members has becomed more aware about green building practices. The research phase was fundamental as a starting phase to produce the WP’s main result. The participating organisations has increased their knowledge by working on the development of the modules of the Guide.
The guide’s development has leaded to the production of the first draft of the Guide which constituted the main result of this WP. Participating organisations has improved their knowledge about green building practices as the evaluation from the experts gived them some more inputs on the topic.
The reviewing phase was necessary for the creation of the material and ensure its quality as it was designed to raise awareness and increase the knowledge of teachers and schools’ staff members. The quality of the content is therefore of high importance.
Local activities has increased participating organisations knowledge regarding green building practices by implementing the step-by-step guideline produced as part of the Guide. The guide will be available to all those who want to implement projects/activities in the field of green buildings. We want all our partners and collaborators to be able to use the Guide effectively, to implement our proposals, to become more responsible and caring towards the environment in which they live.
